[Plug-webdev] Updating Drupal

I just talked with Hans at Hackfest, who evidently has some idea that the
currently upgraded 4.7 - 5.2 version of Drupal (still using old 4.7 modules)
can be upgraded to version 6.3 seamlessly.

Here's a good example of most of the people I have talked with's
experiencing with upgrading between versions:

This is a good example of where I got with this. Most of the modules in
your life site would not work.

Believe me, I already have a 6.2 and 6.3 install running (built from source)
(6.2. is running on port 81 of the live site).

It's the updating of your old 4.7 code with modules (calender, all the
events, etc) that is not working.

If you note the update.txt notes instruct to use the export utility - which
is just as broken as some of your module functions (scheduled
events/recurring events) on the live PLUG site.

Drupal Core can happily be upgraded, but it's no longer going to work with
the pre-6.2 modules you have setup on the live site; now upgrading that is
not going to be too much of a step toward moving over the source content
from the existing site now is it?

I will go ahead and do whatever I can do, but a trivial upgrade is not
possible.
