Shawn:

-----------------Here's the blerb--------------

Two part PLUG Security Series content presentation:

1) Defcon 16:
Lisa Kachold will show a very short movie of Defcon 16 highlights -
narrated.

Which is the perfect segway into....

2) Content Presentation --> PLUG Linux Security Series

"Basic Linux System Lock Down"

We will focus on Ubuntu, Fedora Core (Redhat) and generic Linux raw build
security system lock down. Content will scale to server lockdown (so if
Administration is your focus this is a basic foundation/overview) ; we will
cover safe Linux desktop system utilization in today's challenging security
world and changing networks.

This PLUG presentation, like all PLUG events, will present the subject in
terms salient for new users, saavy users, developers and administrators who
will be working with Linux operating systems. Our format will include
formal overview, open question and answer, wherein the more experienced
aptly assist to qualify content questions or field additional queries,
wherein audience contribution is encouraged.

The 14th, Defcon experience would be a nice presentation. I was also hoping
for a basic desktop lock down presentation that would help many of the
people understand a little more about security and why, even though we run
a secure OS, they should still be aware of it.

I also need to run it by Hans to just to verify he is good with it. I don't
think there will be any issues, but I will let you know.

I was working on getting someone to do a security presentation for next
months East side meeting, but the timing is bad for them. Since you are the
one that seems to be driving the Security group for PLUG, would you be
interested in doing a presentation for the East side meeting next month. I
think it would also be a great way to sale the UAT meetings.
Feel free to call me if you want to talk about this over the phone intead
though email.
